A regression analysis is conducted to test some hypotheses that are derived directly from early models of the New Economic Geography (NEG). Regression results indicate that the geographic concentration of Japanese manufacturing industries seems to be determined by some combination of internal economies of scale, transportation costs, and factor intensity. However, inter-industry linkages are found to be an insignificant factor of geographic concentration. As posited by the NEG theories, Japanese manufacturing industries with larger internal economies of scale and smaller unit transportation costs tend to have a higher level of geographic concentration. Japanese manufacturing data also support the Heckscher-Ohlin theory: labor- or capital-intensive industries tend to have a higher level of geographic concentration.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"秋田, 隆裕"},{"creatorName":"アキタ, タカヒロ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"15","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Miyata, Sachiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"576","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Akita, Takahiro","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"16","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Miyata, Sachiko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"577","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2017-02-15"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"EMS_2006_04.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"140.6 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"EMS_2006_04","url":"https://iuj.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/377/files/EMS_2006_04.pdf"},"version_id":"514ff02b-3023-47d9-a8d6-de3b9a597286"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"new economic geography","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"geographic concentration","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"economies of scale","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"transportation costs","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Japanese manufacturing industries","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"new economic geography","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"geographic concentration","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"economies of scale","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"transportation costs","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Japanese manufacturing industries","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Geographic Concentration of Manufacturing Industries in Japan : Testing Hypotheses of New Economic Geography","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Geographic Concentration of Manufacturing Industries in Japan : Testing Hypotheses of New Economic Geography"},{"subitem_title":"Geographic Concentration of Manufacturing Industries in Japan : Testing Hypotheses of New Economic Geography","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"14","path":["1"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2006-01-01"},"publish_date":"2006-01-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"377","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Geographic Concentration of Manufacturing Industries in Japan : Testing Hypotheses of New Economic Geography"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-23T12:33:18.067058+00:00"}
